About The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer focused on actuation, you'll be responsible for the ground up design of novel low-cost, high reliability mechanisms that are critical to the deployment and pointing operation of our reflectors.
Responsibilities
- Deeply understand actuation concept trade space
- Own clean sheet electromechanical actuator design, from concept to production
- Design for high reliability in the space environment
- Iteratively refine designs through analysis, prototyping and testing
- Spec/design, integrate space-rated electric motors
- Keep designs functional and low-cost
Ideal Qualifications
- You've been previously responsible for in-space actuators or mechanisms
- You're intimately familiar with the use of motors, servos and rotating hardware in space
- You've seen mechanisms in space fail and you have a deep understanding of why they failed
- You have strengths in standard mechanical engineering analysis, with a tilt towards electronics design and integration, and like owning a lot of design work.
- You’re open to improving upon the current state of space hardware and changing the “way things are.”
