About The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for quickly designing, prototyping, and flight validating spacecraft subcomponents and integrating mechanical systems on tight deadlines. Your highest priority is delivering functional hardware that strikes a balance between simplicity, scrappiness, analytical rigor and ingenuity.
Responsibilities
- Deliver fault critical structural components
- Clean sheet design and in-space functionality of critical, sometimes novel space mechanisms
- Ownership of fault critical electromechanical components
- Management of cross functional thermal and vibration loads
Ideal Qualifications
- You have meaningfully contributed to critical flight hardware
- You have been an approver signatory on flight drawings
- You have a backlog of awesome personal projects that you’re obsessed with
- You live in CAD and see your designs in your head faster than you can CAD them
- You have written your own FEA solver
- You have a bootleg copy of SpaceX’s hand calcs cheat sheet taped to your computer screen
- Your mcmaster order history can be measured in GB
- Your drawings come back with redlines saying “hell yea”
- You can teach a class on the design of bolted joints
