About The Role
As a Mechanical Engineer focused on deployables, you will entirely own the design, analysis and prototyping of high-performance structures that deploy our first in-space reflectors. The ideal candidate will have engineering experience with structures, spacecraft and composites.
Responsibilities
- Design our first deployable satellite structures, from concept to in-space performance validation.
- Perform analysis that supports design decisions including hand calcs, finite element analysis, dynamics and vibration analysis.
- Iterate and prototype frequently to ground designs in reality and characterize performance.
- Test and validate structural components and designs for flight readiness
- Come up with creative solutions to novel problems that surround precisely putting a spot of reflected sunlight on the ground from space
Ideal Qualifications
- Strong analytical command of structures design.
- Prior experience designing, developing and qualifying high performance, mass optimized structures.
- Experience with composites design and fabrication.
